Anke Hoeffler

Anke Hoeffler is a Professor of Development Research at the Department of Politics & Public Administration at the University of Konstanz. Her research focuses on the social causes of excess morbidity and mortality, with interdisciplinary collaborations on violence-related topics. She leads the project "Agents of Social Change: Female empowerment in India" and is a research affiliate at the International Security and Development Center (ISDC) since March 2020.

• Education: Diplom in Volkswirtschaftslehre (University of Würzburg), MSc in Economics (Birkbeck College, University of London), DPhil in Economics (University of Oxford, 1999)

Her research integrates public health, gender studies, and political economy to address systemic social challenges. Awards include the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship, Germany’s most valuable international research award.
