About
Dr. Anju R. Gupta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Toledo, leading the Interfacial Thermal and Transport Laboratory (ITTL). Her work bridges fundamental interfacial science with sustainable applications in energy, environmental, and biomedical fields.
Her educational background includes:
- B.E. in Chemical Engineering from University of Mumbai, India
- M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Rhode Island
Research focuses on interfacial thermal transport phenomena, with core interests in coatings for heat transfer, cell membrane interactions, self-assembling systems, and emulsion engineering. The ITTL lab integrates experimental, modeling, and AI-driven approaches to develop sustainable solutions for drug delivery, oil spill mitigation, and advanced thermal management systems.
Her scientific contributions are recognized through:
- Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) National Fellowship
- NATAS Mettler Award from North American Thermal Analysis Society
- Edith Rathbun Outreach and Engagement Excellence Award
- ELATES Executive Leadership Fellowship (2025-2026)
Secured major funding from NSF, American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund, and Ward Ford Foundation. Actively mentors students through ACS SEED program and AACT/ACS Science Coaches initiative while teaching courses spanning biochemical engineering to FE exam preparation.
The ITTL lab cultivates interdisciplinary collaboration through its mission to translate nature-inspired research into sustainable technologies, emphasizing ethical conduct, safe practices, and professional development in a diverse research environment.
