Anja Vojvodic

Anja Vojvodic is an Adjunct Professor at New York University’s College of Arts & Science, Liberal Studies Department, and serves as a Lecturer and Director of the Political Science Option at CUNY LaGuardia Community College. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Rutgers University (2020), focusing on gender quota adoption in Eastern Europe. Her research explores women’s political representation, international norms, and social movements in Central and Eastern Europe. Currently, she is developing a book manuscript based on her doctoral work.

Research Interests: Dr. Vojvodic investigates why some states adopt gender quotas while others resist, analyzing the intersection of gender policies, institutional structures, and societal norms. Her work bridges comparative politics and feminist theory, emphasizing Eastern European case studies.

Professional Background: Before academia, she worked in New York City nonprofits including The Legal Aid Society, Downtown Alliance, and Habitat for Humanity. She also interned with UNICEF and the New York City Council.
