Anja Johnsen

Anja Johnsen is an Associate Professor at the University of Bergen, affiliated with the Department of Welfare and Participation. Her research focuses on children and young people in vulnerable life situations, with expertise in academic resilience, child poverty, ethnic minorities, and substance abuse.

• Teaching: Master of Applied Social Science program, courses on milieu therapeutic methods, social inequality, and mental health

Research interests include child welfare, resilience in adverse conditions, environmental therapy, and equity in social systems. Her work examines interactions between welfare states and marginalized populations.

Publications analyze topics like institutional child welfare practices, educational outcomes for vulnerable youth, and cultural challenges in welfare provision. Recent works address ethical dilemmas in environmental therapy and refugee family integration.
