Dr. Anja Hauri is a researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Germany, leading the Digital Infectious Disease Surveillance Team since 2021. She previously held leadership roles in epidemiology and public health at the Hessian State Office for Public Health (2001-2019) and the Giessen Health Department (2020-2021). Her work focuses on digital infectious disease surveillance, antibiotic resistance, and infection prevention strategies.
Her research expertise spans digital surveillance systems, carbapenem-resistant pathogens, and social determinants of disease transmission. She has led major projects such as DigiPREW (using SORMAS in the DRC), WOPPA (water-based outbreak prediction in Africa), and ALEAC (AI-driven outbreak detection).
Dr. Hauri studied human medicine in Perugia and Amsterdam, holds a Master's in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and was a member of the Robert Koch Institute's Scientific Advisory Board (2011-2021).
