About
Anine Kierulf is an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo's Department of Public and International Law within the Faculty of Law. She holds a cand.jur. from UiO, an LL.M. from Northwestern University, and is a licensed lawyer. She has served as Research Director at the Norwegian Human Rights Institution (2017–2020) and currently advises as Special Advisor there. In 2024, she is on leave, acting as a judge at the Borgarting Court of Appeals while maintaining her academic role. Her research focuses on constitutional law, human rights, freedom of expression, criminal law, and legal theory. Notably, she led the government commission on academic freedom of expression (NOU 2022:2), recognized as 'Name of the Year in Academia' (2022).
