Dr. Angie Schultz is a Professor of Sociology and Director of the Social Research Lab at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). She has been with UNC since 2007, serving as Department Chair from 2013-2014 and holding the ranks of Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor. Her research spans commercial sexual exploitation, family dynamics, and gender studies, informed by extensive fieldwork with over 100 survivors of sexual exploitation and sex buyers.
Education:

- B.A. in Media Studies and Sociology, University of Sioux Falls
Her research explores the intersections of gender norms, maternal mental health, and systemic exploitation. Recent publications analyze idealized motherhood’s psychological impacts and trafficking in sporting contexts. She integrates community-engaged methods, including refugee center board service.
Honors include the 2016 Excellence in Teaching Award, multiple Faculty Member of the Game recognitions, and the 2009 'Most Inspiring Faculty Woman' award. She directs UNC’s Social Research Lab and teaches courses on social theory and global prostitution.
She leads the Social Research Lab and has presented findings at international forums like the United Nations’ Commission on Crime Prevention. Her community work includes serving on the board of the Immigrant and Refugee Center of Northern Colorado (2013-2017).
