About
Angie McDonald is a Professor of Psychology at PBA, serving in the Department of Psychology within the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She joined the institution in 2003 and currently serves as the Departmental Coordinator. Dr. McDonald also holds significant leadership roles as the faculty advisor for Psi Chi (a national honor society in psychology) and the Psychology Club, which she co-chaired with Dr. David Compton.
Dr. McDonald's educational background includes a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas, an MS in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University, and a BS in Psychology from Abilene Christian University.
Her primary research interests focus on attachment to God and broader areas of psychology of religion. She specializes in developmental psychology, social psychology, and statistics. Dr. McDonald is an active member of the Institute for Research on Psychology and Spirituality, a national group of evangelical researchers that meets annually at Rosemead School of Psychology.
She has made over 30 presentations at regional and national levels with student co-authors and has published in the Journal of Psychology and Theology and Journal of Psychology and Christianity.

Prior to joining PBA, Dr. McDonald served as an assistant professor at Abilene Christian University from 1996 to 2003, where she received the Teacher of the Year Award. Her work bridges academic psychology with religious studies, focusing particularly on how attachment theory applies to religious contexts.
