Angie Butler

Dr. Angie Butler is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Print Research (CFPR) within the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries, and Education at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). She holds a PhD in practice-led research on UK letterpress practitioners and has over 20 years of academic and studio experience. Her roles include PhD supervision, teaching on UWE’s MA Fine Art Printmaking, and organizing events like the Bristol Artist's Book Event (BABE).

Research interests focus on letterpress printing, artists' books, material thinking, and methodologies of care. Key collaborations include the Nordic Letterpress Network (NLN), the Scandinavian Artists' Books Partnership Project, and exhibitions at institutions like TYPA Tartu and Grafiska Sällskapet. Awards include the Vice-Chancellor’s Early Career Research (ECR) Award for the Dissecting Craft Making project (2021–2022).

Her work bridges practice and theory, emphasizing hands-on craft’s role in contemporary culture. Upcoming projects include a 2025 print exchange with Estonian institution EKA and contributions to journals like FormAkademisk and Arts. She serves on editorial boards for Inscription and IMPACT Printmaking Journal.
