Angelos K. Marnerides is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus and a Faculty Member at the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at the School of Computing Science (SoCS) at the University of Glasgow, UK, leading the Glasgow Cyber Defence Group (GCDG). He maintains an honorary Associate Professor position at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on formalizing and implementing security and resilience mechanisms for cyber-physical systems intersecting with IoT and the internet, emphasizing theoretical foundations and practical, data-driven solutions.
Education: He holds a BSc (Honours, Middlesex University, 2006), an MSc (Distinction, 2007), and a PhD (2011) in Computer Science. Postdoctoral and visiting positions include Carnegie Mellon University, University College London, University of Porto, and Lancaster University.
Research & Funding: His work has attracted over €5M in funding from industry (e.g., Fujitsu, BAE) and agencies (EU, UK MoD, GCHQ). He serves as an expert reviewer for grant panels (Hong Kong RAE, Israel Innovation Authority) and holds a patent on malware detection. His publications span IEEE and ACM venues.
