About
Angeline Pendergrass is an Assistant Professor in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She investigates extreme precipitation and its response to climate change using observational analysis, climate models, and theoretical frameworks.
Her research examines precipitation across intensity distributions, spatial patterns, and temporal scales, with focus on energy flow through the climate system, precipitation extremes in past and future climates, and model evaluation/improvement. She develops novel metrics to characterize precipitation features and their changes.
Current projects analyze how precipitation extremes respond to climate variability and change, and how these changes impact atmospheric circulation, ocean dynamics, climate sensitivity, and societal systems. Her work utilizes theoretical approaches, observational datasets, and hierarchical modeling frameworks from fully coupled climate models to radiative transfer models.
