Angela Ruocco

Angela Ruocco is a Lecturer at the University of Oregon School of Law, where she serves as the Director of Bar Preparation and Licensure Programs. She earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law and a Master's in Government from Johns Hopkins University, and is licensed to practice law in Oregon and Maryland.

Throughout her legal career, Ms. Ruocco has held diverse roles in litigation, government, and legal education. She has practiced immigration law, served as an Assistant City Solicitor and Assistant State’s Attorney in Baltimore, and worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland. Her experience also includes administrative law as an Administrative Law Judge in Oregon and presiding as the Presiding Municipal Court Judge for Bend, Oregon.

At Oregon Law, she leads initiatives to prepare students for bar exams and legal licensure by integrating doctrinal knowledge with practical skills. Her work emphasizes professional identity formation, applied skills learning, and practice-ready lawyering. She is actively involved in mentoring new attorneys through the Oregon Supreme Court's New Lawyers Program and serves on the Oregon State Bar's Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, acting as a volunteer attorney to investigate complaints related to unauthorized legal practice.

Ms. Ruocco also consults for Oregon courts on court administration, ethics, and management, while lecturing at the Oregon Judges Association on these topics. Her past teaching roles include Constitution Law, Civil Liberties, and Legal Reasoning and Writing at the undergraduate level, as well as clinical instruction at the University of Maryland School of Law.
