Angela Ribas Artola

Angela Ribas Artola is a Professor in the Department of Animal Biology, Plant Biology and Ecology at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She holds a Ph.D. in Biology from UAB awarded in 2004. Her research focuses on biomonitoring, plant responses to environmental stress (e.g., ozone, drought), and sustainable agricultural practices, particularly in Mediterranean ecosystems.

Key research interests include the ecological impacts of pollutants like ozone in Catalonia, nitrogen dynamics in forage systems, and biochar applications to improve soil and crop productivity. She has supervised 14 research works and actively contributes to achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and sustainable agriculture.

Her recent publications emphasize agroecological solutions, such as optimizing crop mixtures for resilience under climatic change and evaluating biochar’s role in nutrient management. Collaborations span soil microbiology, agronomy, and environmental policy, reflecting interdisciplinary strengths.
