Angela R. Subauste

Dr. Angela R. Subauste is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine-ENDO at the University of Mississippi Medical Center's School of Medicine. She specializes in endocrinology, metabolic diseases, and diabetes. Her research focuses on adipose tissue biology, insulin resistance, lipid metabolism, and clinical endocrinology. She has held academic positions at UMMC since 2016, previously serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan from 2009–2016.

Research Interests: Dr. Subauste's work addresses metabolic disorders, particularly diabetes and obesity. Her clinical studies include leptin therapy for lipodystrophy and the impact of bariatric surgery on cytokine profiles. She also explores genetic mutations (e.g., AGPAT2, ARMC5) affecting endocrine function and adipogenesis.

Labs & Clinics: She co-directed the Post-Bariatric Surgery Clinic at the University of Michigan and established a Hyperglycemia clinic. Her research lab focuses on adipose tissue physiology and metabolic signaling pathways.
