Angela Potochnik is Professor and Head of the Philosophy Department at the University of Cincinnati, where she also directs the Center for Public Engagement with Science. Her research examines idealization in science, scientific explanation, and the relationship between science and society. A Stanford PhD graduate, she has received the Marjorie Grene Prize and Rising Star Award for her contributions to philosophy of science.
Potochnik's influential publications explore how scientific understanding emerges through idealized models and diverse explanatory approaches.
