Angela Piehl is an Associate Professor, Co-Chair of the Department of Art & Design, and Area Head of Painting & Drawing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). She holds an MFA in Painting & Drawing from the University of Arizona and a BFA from the University of Texas, Austin.
Her cross-disciplinary art practice explores themes of luxury, accumulation, and alienation from Nature. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, featured in Art New England, The Denver Post, Pelican Bomb, Glasstire, and the textbook Gateways to Drawing (Thames and Hudson, 2018). Her art is included in prominent collections, including the Kala Art Institute, Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, and the John Michael Kohler Art Center.
Piehl has participated in residencies such as the Kohler Arts & Industry Residency, Jentel, and Vermont Studio Center. She lectures and serves as a visiting artist at universities, discussing contemporary art practices. Her work is represented by Walker Fine Art in Denver, Colorado.
