Dr. Angela Ju is an Assistant Professor of International Affairs & Political Science at St. Edward's University, Austin, TX. She holds appointments in the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences, serving as Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), co-chair of the Faculty Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (FCDI), and Coordinator for the Global Perspectives requirement. Her research employs mixed-methods to explore race/ethnicity, gender, migration, health policy, and urban politics across North America, Latin America, Europe, and East Asia.
Dr. Ju earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from UCLA (2015), with prior M.A. and B.A. degrees in Political Science, Spanish, European Studies, and Latin American Studies from the University of Washington (2007, 2009). Before academia, she worked in international development consulting in Washington, D.C. and NYC. Her work bridges policy analysis and social justice, particularly in immigrant integration and non-profit sector dynamics.
Her research trends emphasize identity politics and transnational migration impacts, with notable focus on Latin America and East Asia. The 2025 book *Identities Matter: Politics of Immigration and Incorporation* (Oxford UP) was awarded the 2022 APSA MSI Virtual Book Workshop Award. Recent studies include historical Sino-Latin American relations, xenophobic policies against Haitian migrants, and ethnic identity in São Paulo.
She has taught at UCLA, UC Washington Center, York College CUNY, Marymount Manhattan College, Knox College, and Quinnipiac University. Her roles in academic governance highlight institutional equity and diversity initiatives.
