Angela Franks Wells serves as Professor of Photography and Graduate Program Director in the School of Art & Design at East Carolina University's College of Fine Arts and Communication. She has been a dedicated faculty member since 2011, teaching across undergraduate and graduate programs while directing the MFA in Art curriculum.
Her educational background includes:
- BA in Studio Art and Psychology from Scripps College (2000)
- MFA from Arizona State University (2006)
Specializing in historical photographic techniques, Professor Wells' creative practice investigates 19th century processes through contemporary playful experimentation. Her work draws significant inspiration from southern environmental elements - particularly the lush greenery, dramatic weather systems, and natural humidity that actively benefits her studio processes. She maintains a strong commitment to developing both technical mastery and conceptual depth in student work.
