Professor Angela D. Dillard is the Richard A. Meisler Collegiate Professor of Afroamerican & African Studies and History at the University of Michigan, with affiliations in the Residential College's Social Theory & Practice program. She holds administrative roles as Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Interim Vice Provost for Access & Opportunity.
Education: PhD in American Studies from the University of Michigan.
Her research focuses on American and African-American intellectual history, exploring intersections of race, religion, politics, urban studies, and ideological evolution. Current work includes a manuscript titled A Different Shade of Freedom, examining civil rights conservatism and the New Right.
Publications analyze multicultural conservatism, religious radicalism in Detroit, and ideological dynamics. Projects include the Egalitarian Metropolis initiative and co-leading the Detroit River Story Lab.
