Andy Mauery

Andy Mauery is an active Associate Professor of Art and Foundations Coordinator at the University of Maine, teaching since 2000. Based in Veazie, Maine, she creates sculptures, large-scale installations, and collaborative workshops while instructing courses including 3D Design, ART 104 Success for Majors, and Senior Capstone. Her work has been exhibited internationally across the United States, Denmark, Peru, and the United Kingdom.

Mauery's research interrogates materiality and social constructs through bodily-referential media like human hair, wax, and paper. She explores extinction, mortality, and gender's role in environmental degradation via contemplative, question-driven artworks organized into thematic groupings. Her practice reveals unexpected humor and pathos within ecological crises while engaging with historical female craft lineages.
