About
Dr. Andy Ashley is an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London's Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on catalytic activation of dihydrogen using frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) and transition metal-based systems to enable sustainable hydrogenation reactions. Key areas include converting CO₂ and CO into hydrocarbons via Fischer-Tropsch processes, nitrogen fixation for ammonia production, and designing thermally stable ligands for industrial applications. He collaborates with the Energy Futures Lab and Industrial Biotechnology Hub.
Research Goals: Develop carbon-neutral 'green' fuels, improve nitrogen fixation efficiency beyond the Haber process, and create energy-efficient catalytic systems. Methodologies involve NMR/IR spectroscopy and ligand modification strategies.
Affiliations: Energy Futures Lab Affiliate, Industrial Biotechnology Hub Affiliate. Contact: a.ashley@imperial.ac.uk (601L Molecular Sciences Research Hub, White City Campus).
