About
André Cartier is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at Université de Montréal. He specializes in respiratory medicine with a focus on asthma, occupational asthma, and hyperventilation syndrome. After completing his training in pulmonology at Université de Montréal, he held a Canadian Medical Research Council fellowship under Dr. F.E. Hargreave. He has been actively practicing pulmonology at Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal since 1980. He served as Head of the Pulmonary Division (1995–2005) and Chair of the Department of Medicine (2006–2009).
His research focuses on occupational asthma epidemiology, risk factors, bronchial hyperresponsiveness monitoring, pharmacological studies, and hyperventilation syndrome treatment. He has authored/co-authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He contributed to Canadian consensus committees on asthma since 1989 and co-founded the Québec Asthma Network. He frequently speaks at national/international conferences and reviews for medical journals.
