Andris Veismanis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Choir Conducting at the Latvian Academy of Music. He holds a Master of Arts (1995) and graduated from the choir conducting program (1990), studying under Prof. Imants Kokars and Prof. Jānis Dūmiņš. His expertise spans symphonic/opera conducting and baroque music, trained by Yuri Simonov and William Christie.
Key roles include Principal Chorus Master (Latvian National Opera, 1997–2006), conductor (Latvian National Opera since 2006), founder/leader of chamber choir Sacrum (1989–1997), and conductor of the Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra (since 1995). Notable productions include baroque operas by Purcell, Handel, Gluck, and contemporary works like The Birds' Opera.
Recipient of the Latvian Great Music Award (1993, 1998) for landmark productions. Active in both classical and Latvian contemporary repertoire.
