Andrew Steptoe is a Professor and Director of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London (UCL) since 2011. Previously, he served as Head of the same department at UCL (2000–2011) and held roles as Professor and Chair of Psychology at St. George's Hospital Medical School (1988–2000). He graduated in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and earned his doctorate at Oxford University in 1975.
- Research focuses on psychosocial aspects of health, stress, coping mechanisms, health behavior, ageing, and psychobiology.
- Editorial roles include founding editor of the British Journal of Health Psychology and associate editorships in journals such as Psychophysiology and Annals of Behavioral Medicine.
Recipient of multiple honors, including Fellowship in the Academy of Medical Sciences and leadership roles in international behavioral medicine organizations. He has authored or edited 16 books and over 480 journal articles/chapters, contributing significantly to the field of behavioral medicine.
