Andrew Shurtz

Andrew Shurtz is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Louisiana State University (LSU) within the College of Art & Design's Art/Graphic Design department. He holds a BFA from LSU and an MFA from Yale University. His research focuses on typography, language, and visual form boundaries, co-founding the design collective Verytime and co-editing Convolution, a journal exploring experimental typography's intersections with art and poetry.

• Teaching History: Taught at Parsons School of Design (2011–2021), Rutgers University, City College of New York, and served as a visiting critic at Yale University, NYU ITP, and University of Connecticut.
• Awards: AIGA 50 Books 50 Covers, multiple AUPresses design awards, and Yale's Phelps Berdan Award.

His work bridges pedagogy and practice, emphasizing experimental methodologies in graphic design and publishing.
