Andrew Robb

Andrew Robb is a Lecturer in Jazz Bass at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and holds roles such as Head of Jazz at St Mary’s Specialist Music School (Edinburgh) and Lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire. He is an accomplished double bassist recognized for his versatility in classical and jazz performance. His accolades include the European Society of Bassists Jazz Competition 1st Prize (2018) and being named Scotland’s Young Scot of the Year in the arts category (2019).

Education includes a BMus Jazz from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama (2012) and a Master’s in Jazz Performance from the Grieg Academy of Music, Bergen (2018). He has performed globally with ensembles like the Alan Benzie Trio, Henry Spencer’s Juncture, and his own trio A Northern Code, releasing their debut album in 2019. His educational work extends to workshops like Freeing The Music, collaboration with the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain, and roles at the National Youth Jazz Collective and Edinburgh University.

Key achievements include performances at major jazz festivals (Edinburgh, Glasgow, London), collaborations with legends such as Salena Jones and Dag Arnesen, and his leadership in the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland.
