Andrew Riley serves as Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His research program focuses on discovering novel therapeutics from natural products to address pain and addiction without addictive side effects.
Dr. Riley's laboratory investigates bioactive compounds from the African akuamma tree for non-addictive pain relief and develops synthetic analogs inspired by plant chemicals to treat substance use disorders involving cocaine, alcohol, and nicotine. His interdisciplinary work bridges:
