Andrew Pendleton

Professor Andrew Pendleton holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of York's School for Business and Society. Previously, he served as a Professor in Human Resource Management at York (2005-2014), Head of the Department of Management and Marketing at Durham University, and Head of the School of Management and Governance at UNSW Business School in Sydney. He currently holds a part-time appointment at UNSW as Professor of Employee Ownership and Reward. He earned a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford and a PhD in Social Sciences from Bath. His research focuses on employee ownership, corporate governance, and financial participation, with notable work on share incentive plans and corporate governance impacts.

Key roles include membership in the Inland Revenue Advisory Group (designing Share Incentive Plans) and Board Membership of Employee Ownership Australia. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds the Nachson and Arieh Mimran Fellowship at Rutgers University. His research collaborations span institutions like the European Foundation for Improvement of Living and Working Conditions and Melbourne University. Current projects include studies on European employee shareholder associations and employee ownership trusts (EOTs).

Teaching expertise includes employee reward systems, human resource management, and research methods at undergraduate/postgraduate levels. His publications address employee ownership trends, mergers & acquisitions impacts, and hedge fund activism effects on employment. Awards include recognition for his contributions to labor management and governance studies.
