Andrew Ollett is an Associate Professor in the South Asian Languages and Civilizations Department at the University of Chicago’s Division of the Humanities. His research explores the literary and intellectual traditions of South Asia, focusing on Sanskrit, Prakrit, Apabhramsha, and Kannada texts from the first millennium CE.
- Current Projects: Co-editing The Way of the Poet-King (Kannada poetics) with Sarah Pierce Taylor, preparing an edition of Mirror of Ornaments (Prakrit poetics), and finalizing the Murty Classical Library of India edition of Līlāvaī (Prakrit verse romance).
- Research Themes: Language choice in cultural production, regional literary traditions, and the role of poetics in shaping medieval South Asian identities.
