About
Dr. Andrew Millard is an Associate Professor specializing in bacteriophage bioinformatics at the University of Leicester's Department of Genetics and Genome Biology. His research focuses on phage-host interactions, genomic analysis of marine cyanophages, and development of bioinformatics tools for high-throughput bacterial genome analysis. He established server infrastructure for genomic analysis at Warwick Medical School and leads the Millard Lab, which advances phage classification and ecological studies.
Research interests include:
- Bacteriophage genomics and taxonomy
- Marine microbial ecosystems
- Bioinformatics pipeline development
- Phage therapeutic applications
Recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on phage classification systems (taxMyPhage), viral metagenomics, and clinical applications of phage therapy. Collaborative works highlight innovations in pathogen genomics and environmental virome characterization.
