Andrew Martinez

Andrew Martinez is a Lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), affiliated with Writing Programs, the Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance, and the UCLA Academic Advancement Program. He earned a PhD in Culture and Performance from UCLA and a BS in Journalism from San José State University.

• Current research focuses on the intersection of dance, national identity, and revolutionary politics in Cuba
• Active participant in academic and artistic communities through conference presentations and publications
• Recipient of multiple research and teaching fellowships

His scholarly work has been presented at the Latin American Studies Conference, Cuban Research Institute (CRI), and Congress On Research in Dance (CORD). Key projects include Bodies in Revolution: A National Ballet in Cuba, analyzing the Ballet Nacional de Cuba's role in post-revolutionary nation-building.
