Andrew Howard is a Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Maryland, College of Arts and Humanities. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in English from Texas Tech University (2005, 2007) and an M.F.A. in English and Creative Writing from Georgia College and State University (2010). His research focuses on language, writing pedagogy, and creative nonfiction. Recent publications include essays and short fiction in Guernica Magazine (2022) and The Sycamore Review (2019). Howard has presented widely on composition pedagogy, including talks on remote learning strategies and developmental English assessment.
His creative work explores themes of identity, place, and narrative form. Awards include the 2022-2023 Awards in the Public Humanities: Research & Engagement. A musician, Howard has performed in Texas 80’s cover bands and currently plays guitar.
