Andrew Holmes is a Professor of Modern History and Head of History at Queen's University Belfast. He holds a dual graduate background from Queen's University Belfast and the University of St Andrews. As a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Higher Education Academy, he serves on editorial boards including Irish Historical Studies and the Ulster Society for Irish Historical Studies. His research focuses on the history of religion in Ireland (1660-present), particularly Presbyterianism and evangelicalism, with recent works including The Oxford Handbook of Religion in Modern Ireland (2024) and The Irish Presbyterian Mind (2018). Teaching modules include undergraduate courses on religious history in Britain and Ireland from the 17th century to the early 20th century.
