Andrew Cook

Andrew Cook is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sunderland. As Programme Leader for the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering program, he leads modules such as EAT247 (Design Methods and Applications), EAT241 (Engineering Placement), EDA104 (Design Principles), and ENGM111 (Product Orientated Manufacturing). His research focuses on advanced manufacturing methodologies including Industry 4.0 integration, precision engineering, and stress analysis across sectors like aerospace, automotive, and pharmaceuticals. With over two decades of industry experience in design and manufacturing, he bridges academic theory with practical industrial applications.

Teaching emphasizes hands-on engineering principles and placement opportunities to prepare students for modern manufacturing challenges. His expertise spans bespoke project design for oil & gas, defense, and medical industries, reflecting his commitment to innovation in mechanical engineering education.
