Andrew Bates

Andrew Bates, Ph.D., is a Research Professor and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Urban Engineering at New York University Tandon School of Engineering. With 25 years of combined experience in construction management, engineering, and organizational management, he specializes in risk analysis, project controls, and the strategic application of Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Education:

• Master of Science in Civil Engineering, University of Colorado, Boulder (1998)
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, United States Air Force Academy (1992)

Research Interests: Dr. Bates focuses on the intersection of technology and management within the built environment. His work spans risk analysis and management, owner’s representation strategies, construction project management, and advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques for project controls and decision-making.
