Andrew Austin

His research focuses on three interconnected domains:

• Crime and justice systems
• Political economy frameworks
• Political sociology dynamics

His scholarly work examines power structures, social movements, and systemic inequalities within these contexts.

Publication analysis reveals a consistent focus on societal power structures, with notable contributions to understanding anti-environmental movements and political economy. His award-winning 2002 article remains widely cited in discussions of environmental countermovements.

He maintains active international research collaborations, recently conducting fieldwork in Sweden and Norway examining corrections systems, rehabilitation practices, and recidivism patterns.
