Andrew Ardizzoia

Andrew Ardizzoia is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Composition and Instrumental Studies at Muhlenberg College, where he also leads the Muhlenberg Wind Ensemble. His compositions are performed internationally by ensembles and soloists on four continents, with recent premieres at the CBDNA North Central conference and performances by prestigious groups including the Iowa All-State Honor Orchestra and Arizona State University Philharmonia.

His educational background includes:

• D.M.A. in composition with a cognate in music theory from The Hartt School, University of Hartford (2014)
• M.M. in composition from Arizona State University
• B.M. in composition from the University of the Pacific

Ardizzoia's creative research centers on contemporary classical composition with specialized expertise in wind ensemble literature, percussion (particularly marimba), and orchestral arrangements. His works, described as 'exuberant, rhythmic, and great fun' and 'smart, intriguing, and masterful,' have been featured at major international conferences including the World Saxophone Congress, North American Saxophone Alliance, and International Horn Society. He actively integrates his compositions into interdisciplinary contexts such as art installations, dance programs, and theatrical productions across the Pacific Rim, while maintaining strong connections with performing ensembles through residencies and masterclasses.

As Director of Composition and Instrumental Studies, Ardizzoia oversees academic programs while maintaining an active performance schedule for his works. His 2015 residency at the Heartland Marimba Festival and Academy demonstrates his commitment to artist development, and his percussion works are formally published through Heartland Marimba Publications.
