Andrew Albin

Andrew Albin is Associate Professor of English and Director of Graduate Studies at Fordham University. He holds a BA from Johns Hopkins, PhD from Brandeis University, and LMS from Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies. His interdisciplinary research examines medieval soundscapes, performance traditions, sensory histories, and manuscript cultures.

Teaching includes undergraduate courses on Medieval Drama, Arthurian Literature, and contemplative traditions, plus graduate seminars on Richard Rolle's writings, medieval temporalities, and sound theory. His pedagogy connects literary analysis with performance practice and material text studies.

Research explores aural dimensions of medieval experience through sound studies frameworks, manuscript evidence, and performance reconstruction. Current projects investigate devotional listening practices, acoustic environments of medieval drama, and sensory approaches to literary interpretation.

Administrative leadership includes directing graduate studies and pioneering experiential learning initiatives like the 'Contemplating the Cloisters' course and undergraduate medieval drama productions. Previously taught at NYU and Cambridge.
