Andres Fielbaum

Dr. Andres Fielbaum is a Lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering at The University of Sydney, specializing in Transport Engineering. His research focuses on optimizing public transport systems, on-demand mobility, and shared mobility economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Universidad de Chile and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at TU Delft. Prior roles include researcher positions at Universidad de O'Higgins and lecturing roles at Universidad de Chile and Universidad Federico Santa María.

His research interests include public transport network design, ridepooling optimization, and the integration of new technologies like autonomous vehicles. He advises three current research students on topics ranging from ridepooling reliability to urban mobility integration in developing countries. His work has been published in high-impact journals such as Transportation Research Part B and European Journal of Operational Research.

Dr. Fielbaum leads the TransportLab research group, exploring cutting-edge solutions for urban mobility challenges. Key areas of focus include cost-sharing mechanisms in shared mobility, anticipatory routing algorithms, and the socioeconomic impacts of ride-hailing platforms. His recent work addresses scale economies in on-demand systems and the strategic design of mixed fixed-flexible public transport networks.
