Andres Alver is a Professor and Head of the Department of Urban Planning at the Estonian Academy of Arts, where he has taught since 1985. He holds a dual role as a Master's Thesis Supervisor and leads a professional architectural studio. His career spans over four decades, combining academic leadership with extensive architectural practice.
- Education: Architecture studies at the Estonian SSR State Institute of Arts (ERKI, 1972–1977).
- Professional Experience: Founded Alver Trummal Arhitektid (1990–2006) and currently runs his own architectural bureau.
Research interests focus on architectural design, urban planning, and sustainable development. His work emphasizes public space innovation and wooden architecture, reflected in numerous competition wins and awards.
Alver has received prestigious accolades, including the Kristjan Rau Art Prize, four Cultural Endowment Annual Prizes, and the 2020 Order of the White Star. He has also been nominated for major international awards like the Mies van der Rohe Prize.
