Andreea-Ruxandra Schmitzer

Andreea-Ruxandra Schmitzer is a Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Montreal. She serves as Vice-Dean of the Faculty. Her research focuses on supramolecular chemistry, organic and bio-organic catalysis, and the development of transmembrane transport systems. She leads projects involving molecular recognition mechanisms and catalytic systems design.

Her expertise includes ionic liquids, self-assembled materials, and membrane perturbation applications in drug delivery and cancer treatment. Key research areas are biomaterials, antimicrobial agents, and mitochondrial targeting therapies.

Funded projects include the Supramolecular Strategies to Target Cellular Membranes (2021-2027, CRSNG) and collaborations within the Centre en Chimie Verte et Catalyse (CCVC).
