Andreea Creanga, MD, PhD, is a Professor at Johns Hopkins University, jointly appointed in the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the School of Medicine. She is affiliated with the Department of International Health and holds joint appointments in the Division of Health Systems and the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health. She is also affiliated with the William H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, the International Center for Maternal & Newborn Health, and the Johns Hopkins Center for Women's Health, Sex, and Gender Research.

Her research focuses on maternal and perinatal health, with expertise in maternal mortality and severe morbidity measurement, vital statistics, quality improvement, patient safety, and program evaluation. She leads the Maryland Maternal Health Innovation Program (MDMOM) and serves as Principal Investigator for the NIH Maternal Health Data Coordination and Innovation Hub. Her recent publications demonstrate a strong trend in leveraging data science—including machine learning—for maternal health surveillance, assessing bias in care, and evaluating health policy impacts. She leads the Maryland Maternal Health Innovation Program (MDMOM), which coordinates quality improvement across 32 birthing hospitals in Maryland. Her research team focuses on data coordination, bias mitigation, and maternal safety, contributing to national and global maternal health strategies.
