Andreea Acasandre is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Urban and Landscape Design, Faculty of Urban Planning, University of Architecture and Urbanism "Ion Mincu" (UAUIM) in Bucharest, Romania. With expertise spanning urban sociology, landscape architecture, and community development, she contributes significantly to understanding contemporary urban challenges in Romania and beyond.
Dr. Acasandre's research focuses on critical urban issues including urban sprawl, community quality of life, public participation in urban planning, and the relationship between landscape and social identity. Her work examines how built environments shape social interactions and community development, with particular attention to vulnerable populations and marginalized communities. She investigates the complex interplay between physical urban spaces and social dynamics, exploring how urban design can better serve diverse community needs through methodologies including content analysis, field questionnaires, and Principal Component Analysis.
Her research projects demonstrate her commitment to practical urban solutions. She serves as Assistant Manager for the ROSE SGCU project ("Reducing the risk of dropout and increasing the quality of results of first-year urban planning students from UAUIM") since 2020, addressing educational challenges in urban planning. Previously, she contributed as an urban planning and sociology expert to the "Integrated Management of the North Dobrogean Plateau" project (2018-2021) focused on environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. She also served as Assistant Manager for the BRĂILA LABORATORY project (2015-2016), exploring alternative approaches to urban peripheries.
Dr. Acasandre actively participates in academic discourse through conference presentations at venues including HURBE Conference in Sarajevo (2021), the International Symposium on Conservation of Natural and Landscape Heritage in Tulcea (2019), and the BIFE Urban Design Conference in Bucharest (2015). Her scholarly contributions span urban sociology, landscape architecture, and community development, with a particular focus on Romanian urban contexts.
