Andreas Unteidig

Andreas Unteidig is a Lecturer and academic researcher at the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts), where he co-leads the MA Eco-Social Design program and is part of the Competence Center Design & Management. His work focuses on socio-ecological transformation, digital sovereignty, and socially engaged design practices. He holds a Dr. Phil. from the Berlin University of the Arts and previously co-directed the MA Transformation Design at Braunschweig University of the Arts.

Research interests include designing for sustainable transitions, digital equity, and collaborative methodologies. He leads projects like IDN - Eco-Social Design for Urban Sustainability Transitions and XPLORE-ESD, fostering cross-cultural insights. His work bridges academia with applied research, involving collaborations with the United Nations Development Program, GIZ, and the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society in Berlin.

Professional roles include Co-Director of the Social Design Network, Board Member of the German Society for Design Theory & Research (DGTF), and Swiss Design Network. Recent presentations focus on digital sovereignty, eco-social innovation, and participatory design approaches.

His publications explore themes like community digital sovereignty, maker cultures, and socially oriented design practices. Ongoing projects include the PhD Programme ‘Eco-Social Innovation by Design’ and international collaborations addressing urban sustainability and equity.
