Andreas Traub

Andreas Traub serves as Professor at the Musicological Institute within the Faculty of Philosophy at Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. He maintains an office contact at +49 (0)7071 29-72414 and holds a longstanding position in academic music research.

Born in 1949, Traub completed his studies in Munich and Bern, earning his doctorate in 1977. He worked at the Institute of the Free University of Berlin from 1979 to 1990 before receiving his habilitation from the University of Tübingen in 1994. Since 1991, he has been actively engaged in regional music research throughout Baden-Württemberg while simultaneously serving as a lecturer at Tübingen's Institute of Musicology.

Professor Traub's research interests center on historical musicology with particular emphasis on regional musical heritage documentation. His work bridges academic scholarship with practical musicological publication through his editorial role. Since April 1997, he has served as editor of the significant publication series Monuments of Music in Baden-Württemberg, contributing substantially to the preservation and scholarly presentation of regional musical heritage.

Additionally, since 1994, Traub has held a teaching position at the State University of Music in Trossingen, demonstrating his commitment to music education across institutional boundaries. His career reflects a deep engagement with both the theoretical and practical dimensions of musicological scholarship, particularly as it relates to the cultural heritage of southwestern Germany.
