Prof. Dr. Dr. Andreas Schüle is a Professor of Old Testament Theology and Exegesis and Director of the Institute of Judaic Studies at the University of Leipzig since 2013. He also serves as Academic Dean of the Faculty of Theology since 2023, with additional roles as a Board Member of the Rabbinerseminar Berlin and Editor in Chief of Kerygma und Dogma.

- Habilitation (Dr. habil., Zurich, 2005)
His research focuses on Old Testament theology, anthropological interpretations, biblical hermeneutics, and West Semitic philology, with recent publications analyzing creation theology during the pandemic, sacred texts in biblical contexts, and intertextual relationships between Exodus narratives and prophetic literature. He participates in multiple editorial boards and academic societies including Hermeneia, SBL, and Vetus Testamentum.
Teaching activities include:
- Co-founding the Leipzig-Jerusalem Summer School (2015–present)
- Lectures on Old Testament theology (2025)
- Seminars on Qohelet and Genesis 2–3 reception history
- International course on Jewish-Protestant relations in Germany
