Andreas Rüther is a Lecturer in the Department of History at Bielefeld University’s Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology. His work focuses on medieval and early modern history, with emphasis on agricultural and migration history, court research, and monastic traditions. He is currently on research sabbatical until 2025, represented by Privatdozent Dr. Melanie Panse-Buchwalter.
- Current research areas include comparative national/regional history and church/city history in late medieval Europe
- Active in historical commissions for Westphalia and Silesia
His career includes habilitation at Justus Liebig University of Giessen (2004) and academic positions at Ruhr University Bochum and University of Duisburg-Essen.
