Dr. Andreas Effland is a Researcher at the Department of Egyptology and Coptic Studies at Georg-August-University Göttingen since 2020. He specializes in Archaeology, social/cultural history, religion, concepts of the afterlife, Egyptian language/writing, and research history. His work focuses on ancient Egyptian religious practices, particularly the Osiris cult in Abydos, and the Ptolemaic Temple of Edfu.
Education: Master’s (1996) and PhD (2004) in Egyptology from the University of Hamburg. Extensive collaboration on major projects like the Edfu Project (since 1996) and the German Archaeological Institute's Osiris cult research (since 2003). Holds memberships including Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute (2021) and Senior Member of the Göttingen Graduate School of Humanities (2021).
