Andrea Ruthven

Dr. Andrea Ruthven is a researcher at the University of the Balearic Islands' Department of Spanish, Modern and Classical Philology, specializing in English for Specific Purposes and contemporary women's writing. She co-directs the journal Lectora: revista de dones i textualitat and contributes to the Consolidated Research Group on Creation and Thinking of Women (2017 SGR 588).

• PhD in Construction and Representation of Cultural Identities from University of Barcelona

Research Focus: Examines speculative fiction's engagement with gender, sexuality, representation, and materiality in globalized contexts. Notable publications include analyses of The Hunger Games and Ms. Marvel, and co-edited volume Narratives of Difference in Globalized Cultures (Palgrave 2017).

Current Projects: Active researcher in the Ministry-funded project Cinema and Environment: Affective Ecologies in the Anthropocene (PID2019-110068GA-I00), with prior involvement in projects like Bodies in Transit: Difference and Indifference (FFI2017-84555-C2-2-P) and Transnational Post-Westerns (13.JU21.64661).
