Andrea Pontiggia

Andrea Pontiggia is a Full Professor of Organization Theory and Design at the Department of Management, Università Ca’ Foscari, Venice, and an Affiliate Professor of Leadership, Organization and Human Resources at SDA Bocconi School of Management. Since 1985 he has designed and delivered executive education worldwide, co-directs the International Management to Asia Lab at Ca’ Foscari, and co-founded the ELIM Research Center with Zhejiang University in China.

Research Interests:
His research revolves around the design of global organizations, the internationalisation strategies of medium-sized multinationals, organisational innovation, standards and standardisation processes, and the interplay between open-source innovation and intellectual property rights. Particular attention is devoted to how firms learn from and contribute to emerging markets—most notably China and the broader Far East.

Recent Publications:
Across 2020–2023 he has edited two books and authored or co-authored four articles that collectively examine how organisations adapt to globalisation, leverage machine-learning analytics for performance management, and use international expansion as a vehicle for innovation and renewal.

He designs and directs open-enrolment and custom programs for MBA, EMBA, Executive MBA and MIEM cohorts at SDA Bocconi, and has consulted for leading European multinationals across multiple industries.

Labs & Collaborative Centers:
He co-directs the International Management to Asia Lab at Ca’ Foscari, is a founding member of the ELIM Research Center (Zhejiang University & Ca’ Foscari joint venture), and participates in the China Lab at SDA Bocconi.
